The manufacturer of this lens, Ocular Sciences, markets to eye care providers under the guise that they do not sell their lenses to direct-to-consumer companies. Eye care providers can be influenced by this type of marketing by prescribing this lens on the basis of its distribution policy versus the performance merits of the lens. Further, Ocular Sciences produces this same lens under many different names in many different packages. The lenses are the same, just the packaging is different. Several examples of different branded packages include: Biomedics, Versaflex, Ultraflex, Sofmed, Polysoft, Perspecta, and many others. The result; it makes it more difficult for you to comparison shop - which is precisely why some eye care providers choose to prescribe this lens.
